the meaning of application letter
A job application letter is a letter written to a company when a person applies for a job. The letter is addressed to the part of the company that will select the application letter, usually the personnel department or Human Research and Development (HRD).


Purpose of application letter
The main purpose of the application letter is to give the applicant an opportunity for an interview, it must be written well enough to attract the attention and interest of the person authorized to recommend or grant it. In short, an application letter can make the company interested in inviting us to the next stage of job recruitment, such as an interview test or a written test.

How to write an application letter
  • Begin and end the letter appropriately. (Start and end the letter correctly).
  • Give a clear reason for writing. (Give a clear reason for writing.)
  • Use linking words to join similar ideas into paragraphs. (Use connecting words to link similar ideas into paragraphs.)
  • Include a summary comment near the end of your letter. (Include a brief comment before ending the letter.)
  • Close your letter with a set phrase. (Close the letter with a certain phrase.)

Surakarta, October 6th, 2020

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a fresh graduate of University of XYZ. I am writing this to apply for translator position in your company whose ads I recently found on a job portal. I would appreciate your considering my placement in this role.

As you can see from my CV, I was learning about language and translation in my college years. I was also practicing time management so that I can finish the tasks to meet deadlines and complete the courses. Furthermore, my internship periods in translating have taught me how to work properly and gradually achieve better results.

I am a conscientious person and a hard worker. I am keen to work in a company like yours where I can apply my translating skill. I also believe that I can be a contributor to your company’s growth.
