Caption is a short text above or below an image in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the image or explains what the person in it did or said.
Caption social function
Captions have a social function, namely to provide basic information about an object. Even though it's short, writing a caption can't be arbitrary. It takes language that is interesting but still informative so that what is in the picture can be conveyed properly.

Caption writing structure
is not written arbitrarily. There is a structure for writing captions so that what is in the picture is conveyed properly, namely:
- Opening
The opening (opener) is usually in an image written in a larger size to attract the attention of the reader.
- Content
Content contains concise information to explain the image.
- Closing
The closing section is usually in the form of additional information that has not been conveyed in the content.
