Characteristics of Explanation Text :

1. Using the Simple Present Tense
The use of the simple present tense is because the explanation text contains the facts of an event or action.

2. Using Passive Voice
In an explanation text there must be a passive voice sentence. Why? because this text aims to explain an event or action (object) rather than the subject

3. Using Chronological Connectors
Almost all text uses chronological connectors. Chronological example

connectors:

  • First
  • Second
  • After that
  • Next
  • Then
  • Finally
  • etc.
4. Using Nouns, Pronouns, and Action Verbs
Explanation text is the same as other texts which consist of various nouns, pronouns (subject pronoun, object pronoun, possessive pronoun), action verbs.
